Most everyone wants to be heard.  Good listeners hear clients, customers, or co-workers with all three ears.

Ear One Hears…What they say.   Just listening at this level is a great step of progress for many of us.

Ear Two Hears… How they feel.   Having enough empathy to become aware of how someone is actually feeling goes a long was to building trust.  People lkke being understood.  Tuning into their feelings enough to appreciate their postion and situation gives the listener a lot of wisdom about how to respond.

Ear Three Hears…What they would like to say.   Sometimes we can just ask, “Is there anything else you’d like to say?” and that will give enough room for the person to share at a deeper level.
